A Eulogy for 'The Glass Essay'

Nude #1
My eulogy for your dead body.
Occurred in an empty alley.
Lit by Jesus candles and consumed by the smell
of rain water and rotted flesh.
I wept to the beat of my love for you.

Nude #2
My eulogy for evolution
was for those in the practice
of manual labor and for my mother.

Then for the barber. Who found God
Closes shop now every Tuesday –
No. Wednesday.
Or, was it the weekend?

Even to my father.
Standing disfigured in the doorway.
With a handgun held to his head.
He knelt down in front of me and begged.

“There are fruit flies in my graveyard again.”
“If only they knew how expensive a bottle of red
is nowadays.”

Nude #3
All the while, my eulogy for lost sleep,
had everything to do with my nightmares.
Like, sentiments of my souls surrender –
Nudes of my ache.

This one is for the cockroaches climbing out from
my skin, like ticks. Emerging from my upper thighs.
And, for the spider, whose legs pierced the bottom of
my left foot and exited with no warning.

Nude #4
I am scared my older brother will kill himself.
I know that night drips his silver tap.
Down the back.
I will weep to the beat of my love for you, too.
